Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy
Welcome to the Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy of the University of Piura (UDEP), which is aligned with Law No. 29733 on the Protection of Personal Data (LPDP) and its Regulations.

1. What is personal data?
Information about natural persons that identifies them or makes them identifiable. Identifiable information is when the person's identity can be verified directly or indirectly by combining data through reasonably usable means.
A person's image and voice, signature and electronic signature, fingerprints, medical and/or psychopedagogical results, as well as academic and administrative information, including results obtained within a training program, are personal data and fall within the scope of the LPDP and its regulations.
2. Who is responsible for the processing of your personal data?
The owner of the databases where your personal data will be stored or the person responsible for the processing is the University of Piura, identified with RUC No. 20172627421 and legal address at Av. Ramon Múgica No. 131 Urb. San Eduardo (El Chipe Sector) of the department, province and district of Piura.
3. How do we collect your personal data?
UDEP collects your personal data in the following ways:
• Directly: Personal data that you provide to us, as a prospective student, applicant, student, alumni, or parent, through forms or forms; and data that you provide to us and/or that we obtain when executing our pre-contractual and contractual relationship.
• Indirectly: Personal data that we collect about you through third parties or publicly accessible sources.
4. Is it mandatory to provide your personal data, and what are the consequences of not providing it?
The provision of your personal data is essential to provide university higher education services. Therefore, you acknowledge that you have been informed that failure to provide the data indicated on this form or failure to provide consent to process your personal data for the primary or necessary purposes will prevent UDEP from providing you with university services. Furthermore, you are free to accept or decline secondary or optional purposes. Failure to accept these purposes will result in the sole impediment to contacting you for commercial or advertising purposes, without affecting the provision of university services.
5. How long will your personal data be retained?
The data collected will be retained in accordance with current legislation on civil, commercial, consumer protection, and tax matters. In this regard, personal data will be processed by UDEP for the duration of the existing contractual relationship or its effects, in accordance with the University Law. After that, UDEP will retain the personal data once the relationship has ended, duly safeguarding it for its availability to the competent Public Administrations, Judges, and Courts, during the statute of limitations for any actions that may arise from the relationship and/or the retention periods established by law. UDEP will delete your data once these periods have elapsed. Personal data collected for commercial and/or advertising purposes will be retained for a maximum period of ten (10) years or until you exercise your right of revocation.
6. With what types of entities or companies will we share your data?
We may share your personal data nationally and internationally with other educational institutions, suppliers, or business partners for the purpose of coordinating, executing, and carrying out the purposes detailed above, provided this is necessary for the preparation, conclusion, and execution of our contractual relationship, or if you expressly authorize us to do so.
In this regard, we inform you that your data may be shared with the following individuals, companies, and public entities other than us, whenever necessary for the preparation, conclusion, and execution of our contractual relationship in compliance with the purposes indicated above:

University Health Insurance affiliation and management.
Debt collection management companies
Carry out collection procedures.
Non-profit civil associations
Dissemination of scholarships and research and development projects.

UDEP guarantees that those responsible for processing or receiving personal data assume the same obligations and/or responsibilities detailed in this consent, through their privacy and/or personal data protection policies, while also respecting the protection, security, and confidentiality of such data.
7. What can you do if you are not happy with how we use your data?
UDEP guarantees that you may exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation, and objection (ARCO), as well as the right to revoke your consent, when applicable, by requesting it in writing to the following addresses: Calle Mártir José Olaya 162, Miraflores, Lima, Av. Likewise, you may file a complaint with the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data at the Reception Desk of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights: Calle Scipión Llona No. 350, Miraflores, Lima, Peru, if you believe that your rights have not been adequately addressed.

8. What will we use this data for?
If you are only a prospective student or interested in studying at UDEP, your personal data will be stored in the Customer Management Office database - Piura Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 837), the Commercial Management database (Admissions - Customer Management) - Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 847), or the PAD Marketing database (RNPDP-PJP No. 2252), as applicable. We will only use your data for the following primary or necessary purposes:
• To contact you via the telephone or cell phone number, home address, or email address provided to UDEP and/or entered in our forms, for commercial, marketing, and/or informational purposes regarding the University's products and services, whether physical, virtual, or remote, including through the use of social media, calls, call centers, telephone call systems, and sending text messages to cell phones or emails.
• To invite you and manage your participation in events and activities organized by UDEP.
If you develop a further interest in studying at UDEP and become an applicant, your personal data will also be stored in the Admissions Office database – Piura Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 832) or the Commercial Management database (Admissions – Customer Management) – Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 847), as applicable. It will be used for the following purposes:
• Main or necessary purposes:
– To provide guidance and information on the admission process and methods.
– To manage your participation in the application and admission processes.
– To carry out your socioeconomic assessment.
– To manage the processes and/or procedures administered and implemented by the UDEP, including investigation, sanction, or disciplinary procedures.
– To provide and manage your access to scholarships and other academic benefits.
• Secondary or optional purposes:
– Commercial and/or advertising.
To contact you via the telephone or cell phone number, home address, or email address provided to UDEP and/or entered in our forms, for commercial and marketing purposes and/or to send information about the University's products and services other than the one you are applying for, whether physical, virtual, or remote, including through the use of social media, calls, call centers, telephone call systems, and sending text messages to cell phones or emails.
If you become part of our university community as a student, after having passed the admission process, your personal data will also be stored in the Personal Database of the General Accounting Office (Piura Campus) (RNPDP-PJP No. 834), Personal Database of the University Polyclinic - Piura Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 836), Database of the Pensions Office - Piura Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 838), Personal Database of Library Users - Piura Campus and Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 839), Database of Undergraduate Academic Management (Piura Campus and Lima Campus) (RNPDP-PJP No. 840), Personal Database of the Language Center and Confucius Institute of the University of Piura - Piura Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 854), Personal Database of the Language Center and Confucius Institute of the University of Piura - Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 841), Accounting Office Personal Database - Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 849), Pensions Office Database (undergraduate and graduate) - Billing and Collections (graduate) of Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 850), Medical Service Personal Database - Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 853), PAD Program Student Database (RNPDP-PJP No. 2246), PAD Master's Student Database (RNPDP-PJP No. 2247) or PAD Billing and O7 System Database (RNPDP-PJP No. 2250), as applicable; and, will be used for the following purposes:

– To provide you with teaching services and international certification exams at the Language Center and Confucius Institute and to fulfill any purposes related to your status as a student at these Centers.
– To manage your financial, accounting, and collections for your pensions and other payments.
– To carry out your socioeconomic assessment.
– To contact you and manage your participation for the purposes of coordination, advising, support, and/or personal, academic, behavioral, psychological, psychopedagogical, and health counseling; and to inform you about UDEP's own activities for non-commercial purposes.
– To invite you and manage your participation in events and activities organized by UDEP.
– To provide and manage your access to scholarships and other academic, professional, cultural, healthcare, sports, and other benefits provided directly by UDEP or in coordination or agreement with strategic partners.
– To manage the processes and/or procedures administered and implemented by the UDEP, including investigation, sanction, or disciplinary procedures.
– To comply with all internal regulations set forth in the UDEP Internal Regulations.
– To manage your medical care and treatment at the university clinic or medical service, and include it in your medical record; and, if applicable, manage your insurance.
– To allow you access to the job board and networking.
• Secondary or optional purposes:
– Commercial and/or advertising.
To contact you via the telephone or cell phone number, home address, or email address provided to UDEP and/or entered in our forms, for commercial or marketing purposes and/or to send information about the University's products and services other than the service being provided to you, whether physical, virtual, or remote, including the use of social media, calls, call centers, telephone calling systems, and sending text messages to cell phones or emails.
If you become part of the alumni or alumni community, your personal data will also be stored in the Personal Database of the Piura Campus Alumni Office (RNPDP-PJP No. 833), the Personal Database of the Lima Campus Alumni Office (RNPDP-PJP No. 848), or the PAD Alumni Office Database (RNPDP-PJP No. 2248), as applicable. They will be used for the following purposes:
• Main or necessary purposes:
– To fulfill any purpose related to your status as a UDEP graduate.
– To contact you and maintain communication with you as a graduate and to inform you about UDEP's activities.
– To send you academic information.
– To invite you and manage your participation in events and activities organized by UDEP.
– To allow you access to the job board and networking.
• Secondary or optional purposes:
– Commercial and/or advertising.
To contact you via the telephone or cell phone number, home address, or email address provided to UDEP and/or entered in our forms, for commercial and marketing purposes and/or to send information about the University's products and services, either physically, virtually, or remotely, including through the use of social media, calls, call centers, telephone call systems, and sending text messages to cell phones or emails.
In the case of parents, guardians or legal representatives, your personal data will be stored in the Customer Management Office database - Piura Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 837), the Admissions Office database - Piura Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 832), the Pensions Office database - Piura Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 838), the Commercial Management database (Admissions - Customer Management) - Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 847), the Pensions Office database (undergraduate and graduate) - Billing and Collections (graduate) of Lima Campus (RNPDP-PJP No. 850) or the PAD Marketing Database (RNPDP-PJP No. 2252), as appropriate; and will be used for the following purposes:
• Main or necessary purposes:
– To invite you and manage your participation in events and activities organized by UDEP.
– To carry out the socioeconomic evaluation of the applicant or student.
– To manage the processes and/or procedures administered and implemented by the UDEP.
– To carry out the financial, accounting, and collection management of tuition and other payments for the student.
– To contact you for coordination, advice, support, and/or personal, academic, behavioral, psychological, psychopedagogical, and health counseling; and to inform you about UDEP's activities for non-commercial purposes.
• Secondary or optional purposes:
– Commercial and/or advertising.
To contact you via the telephone or cell phone number, home address, or email address provided to UDEP and/or entered in our forms, for commercial and marketing purposes and/or to send information about the University's products and services, either physically, virtually, or remotely, including through the use of social media, calls, call centers, telephone call systems, and sending text messages to cell phones or emails.
In all cases, regardless of whether you are a student, graduate, parent, legal representative, or guardian, your personal data will be used for the following primary or necessary purposes:
• To comply with legal or regulatory requirements at national and international levels.
• To comply with the requirements of consumer protection regulations.
• To send you invitations to participate in satisfaction surveys regarding our services or products.
• To capture your image and/or voice in photographs and/or videos at events and/or activities in which you participate, as well as their publication and/or dissemination in physical or virtual media, including social networks.
• To maintain internal security.
• For statistical, historical and/or research purposes.

We also inform you that, during events, workshops, talks, or any type of academic, associative, cultural, recreational, or sports activity, whether virtual or in-person, UDEP may take photographs, record videos, or broadcast live for publication and/or dissemination on social media or other physical or digital media owned by UDEP or contracted by UDEP for this purpose, or on social media. Your attendance and/or participation in these activities implies acceptance of the publication and/or dissemination of your image and/or voice.
