The Architecture program promotes superior knowledge in the architectural and urban field, training architects to positively influence society. It aspires to be a reference in the country, helping to organize cities and adequately plan the territory and landscape.

Admission profile

Students entering the Academic Program of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Piura must have appropriate skills to successfully face the challenges of their upcoming university studies. The necessary skills are:

  • Respect the basic rules of coexistence in a demanding and person-centered academic environment.
  • Understand short sentences and communicate ideas orally and in writing.
  • Ability to solve basic mathematics problems: algebra, geometry and mathematical reasoning.
  • Perform in collaborative groups.

These skills will be evaluated in the admission process and at the preparatory or introductory level (leveling).

Graduation profile

Graduates of the Architecture program at the University of Piura possess a deep theoretical knowledge of architecture and urbanism, and a broad cultural, social, and scientific background that allows them to participate competently in solving problems through architectural design within an appropriate aesthetic and constructive framework. It is ready to meet the user's requirements, taking care of the sustainability of the architectural project, the preservation of the environment and the successful intervention of the city, the heritage, the territory and the landscape. He is also aware of the role of the architect in society and of the problems related to architecture and urban planning that exist at the local and regional level, the solution of which falls within his responsibility. He possesses social skills and a solid humanistic background that allow him to perform virtuously within a project team, through efficient communication, appropriate graphic representation, and a strong interest in learning. We are convinced that our graduates possess strong moral and ethical convictions, and that they are aware of the contribution they can offer as architecture professionals to their city and their country.

Architectural Graphic Expression

Develops graphic tools such as spatial vision, proportion management, manual and computer drawing, geometric knowledge, construction criteria, necessary to face the architectural project solidly.

Theory and History of Architecture

It provides solid foundations related to the abundant aesthetic thinking that has served as a background for architectural culture throughout the centuries, so as not to reduce beauty to a merely subjective issue.
It offers a theoretical reflection on architecture and the city throughout history, linked to a certain conception of the person.

Architectural projects

Researches and develops architectural projects that society demands, considering their functionality, constructive rigor, beauty, and their urban impact.

Urbanism and Landscape

It reflects on the city and its own problems from the theoretical field of topography, territory, landscape and urban planning.

Building and Project Management

It includes the studies and knowledge necessary for the materialization of the architectural fact: structures, construction techniques, building installations, etc. In addition, it includes other aspects of the profession such as project management, sustainability, energy efficiency, and the legal bases of the performance of architecture and urban planning.

Arts and Plastic Expression

It includes other topics, also important in the Architecture degree, related to plastic materials, such as painting, sculpture, photography, etc.

The program has a teaching staff made up mainly of full-time professors. The teachers have up-to-date knowledge of the course and are committed to the comprehensive training of the student and continuous improvement processes.

The program offers professional and humanistic training, with emphasis on the quality of teaching and the comprehensive training of people.

Likewise, it provides personalized academic advice through a personal and professional tutoring system, during all years of study.

PARTICIPATION IN SOCIAL PROJECTS

Some subjects in the program offer the possibility of participating in social projects that benefit vulnerable sectors of the population, in rural or urban areas. These projects allow students to get closer to the reality of their environment and contribute to improving it.

CURRICULUM AND ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

The study plan offers the necessary knowledge to perform in the professional field of Architecture. Likewise, it lays the foundations to continue with specialization and postgraduate studies. At all times, it promotes scientific, rigorous and highly academically demanding training.

The program's infrastructure allows academic and research activities to be carried out in classrooms and laboratories surrounded by the natural landscape of the campus, in an environment conducive to reflection and study, in accordance with the demands of university education.

INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS AND EXCHANGES

The program maintains cooperation agreements with international institutions, which promote the scientific development of teachers and students. Likewise, through the university's International Relations office, the student experience is promoted (outgoing) in foreign universities.
