Academic degree of Doctor

 

It is the recognition of the educational training granted to a person, who previously has the academic degree of teacher, by the University, having carried out unpublished and original studies and research in a certain specialty and fulfilled the requirements established by the Law. The University grants it through the Superior Council Agreement.

 

Requirements

To present the original of the Final Project (TFG) in the thesis modality:

  1. Hold the Master's Degree.
  2. Have passed the studies, minimum 6 semesters and minimum 64 credits
  3. Prove mastery of two foreign languages, one of which can be replaced by a native language
  4. Have paid in full the academic rights corresponding to doctoral studies and to obtain the Doctor's Degree.

To request the issuance of the Doctor Degree:

  1. Have an Agreement from the Higher Council to obtain the corresponding Degree.
  2. Present the issuance request respective.

The student must define whether he or she will carry out a Thesis (Individual).

A. Thesis Plan or Research Work

  1. Advisor application and profile Optional if you do not have an advisor.
  2. Thesis Plan or Research Work, is submitted to the Graduate Office, must await approval. See Thesis Plan or Research Work Criteria
  3. Plan Approval Request Thesis or Research Work.
  4. If there are observations from the Jury, the student must present a new Modified Plan Approval Request.
  5. If the work involves studying human beings, the student must present a Request for approval of the plan – Ethics Committee.

All this documentation must be sent digitally to the following email: tesis.posgradoingenieria@udep.edu.pe

  1. With the approval of the Plan by the Jury designated by the Doctorate Directorate and the Ethics Committee, the decision is formally communicated to the student or graduate, indicating that the doctorate is suitable to develop his or her thesis or research work.
  2. The student may abandon the thesis project or research work that has been approved, and request the admission of a new topic. The beginning of the deadline for the presentation of the thesis or research work will be the admission of the first definitive thesis or research work project, and not the approval of the new topic.
  3. The maximum time for the preparation and presentation of the thesis or research work will be determined by each faculty, which may not exceed three years.

B. Approval of the thesis or research work

  1. The thesis or research work to obtain the doctoral degree must follow the standards already established by the Faculty according to the Faculty of Engineering style regulations 2020
  2. Present the Application for granting a Degree and date of support.
  3. Proof of non-debt provided by the Pension Office (Managed in email oficinadepensiones@udep.edu.pe).
  4. Attach report from the advising professor on the thesis or research work.
  5. Copy of the payment receipt for the corresponding academic fee Account and Law Doctor Degree.
  6. Fill out the following personal forms:
    1. Download Personal File Diploma-Doctorate
    2. Download Doctorate-General Secretary Personal File
  1. Four (4) passport size photographs (5.5 x 4.2 cm) in color on a white background and front on matte cardboard. The photos are presented in JPG format, with a charge to deliver them physically when admission to the university is restored.
  2. Clear copy of the DNI (both sides on the same side, not in colors).

The reviewing jury sends the final work to the Graduate Office with a memorandum indicating whether the work is with observations or approved without observations.

If there are observations, the student must resubmit the corrected thesis (having raised the observations), along with a new report from the advisor (this process is repeated until the jury members approve the thesis).

C. Support of the thesis or research work

Once the thesis or research work has been approved, the doctoral student must send the tesis.posgradoingenieria@udep.edu.pe the next information:

  1. The digital version of the thesis or research work in Word and PDF formats, identical to the printed one, except for the insertion of the watermark with the shield of the University of Piura in Acrobat format.
  2. Affidavit of authenticity of the thesis or research work.
  3. Information sheet for the thesis or research work in Spanish and English, with a maximum of 500 words. If the document is invoked with a confidentiality period, this must be a non-confidential summary of said information.
  4. The sheet of Authorization for open access publication in the PIRHUA institutional repository It must be correctly completed and signed by the author, expressing agreement with its presentation in the PIRHUA institutional repository. This form must be duly authorized by the faculty secretary.
  5. The originality report signed by the author and the advisor. Turnitin report.

NOTE:

When face-to-face activities at UDEP restart, the doctoral student must present a physical copy of the final work in the format established by the University and communicated by the Faculty.

Likewise, you are informed that, to parade in the Opening Ceremony of the academic year, the thesis or research work must be supported no later than March 30.
