Educators committed to the comprehensive training of people

 

The Faculty of Educational Sciences began its activities in 1986 with the aim of training educational professionals capable of contributing to the development and progress of society. Our task is to provide the student with a deep pedagogical, academic, cultural and didactic training, accompanied by a solid ethical and Christian training in accordance with the ideology of the University of Piura.

Our academic offer, over more than 30 years, has expanded in accordance with the demands and challenges of current education, implementing new study plans in the six professional careers that we offer: Initial Education, Primary Education and Secondary Education. of Mathematics and Physics, History and CC.SS., Language and Literature and English Language. In all of them, our educational model gives special emphasis to the development of research, the promotion of social responsibility activities and extension training activities.

The quality of our training is institutionally evident by being the first faculty of education in the country to be accredited with SINEACE in 2013 and having achieved its reaccreditation in 2016. As part of the University of Piura, it has its undergraduate programs and postgraduate graduates. This constant effort - the result of a culture of demand and rigor in the careers we offer - allows us to continue working on our objective: to train competent professionals in the various sectors of education that respond to the demands and problems of the educational sector.

Likewise, our training quality is demonstrated by the high level of employability of our graduates, who work in different national and international institutions, where they stand out for their academic, service and leadership professional profile in the educational field.

Our commitment is also to practicing teachers by offering various training courses and continuous pedagogical updating. To achieve this goal, the faculty has various cooperation agreements with both the Ministry of Education of Peru and various educational entities and consortia. For its part, international agreements with various universities around the world allow the exchange and mobility of teachers, to enrich intercultural training and research in areas and topics of educational interest.

Our postgraduate academic offer includes master's and doctoral programs, all with a clear interest in promoting training specialization and educational research. In the master's programs, our students have the opportunity to train in the areas of Psychopedagogy, Educational Management and Educational Theories and Management. Currently, this offer has been expanded with the master's degree in Tutoring and Family Guidance, in alliance with educational institutions in the national environment. For its part, the Doctorate in Education program more rigorously promotes the development of research to respond to current educational problems, for which it has a teaching staff of doctoral professors from our university and collaborating universities abroad.

We are interested in our students expanding their pedagogical and academic training. That is why we promote various undergraduate and graduate academic mobilization programs, both for students and teachers, within the framework of internationalization.
As an institutional team, the Faculty forms the Evaluation Department in order to contribute to the organization of evaluation processes for UDEP admission, and with the projection of leading evaluation processes in educational environments in the region as a way of contributing to the study of the country's educational quality.
