Sustainable Development Program for Mountain Ecosystems in Peru (Chalaco Program)

The Chalaco Program was developed in the district of Chalaco (Morropón) starting in 2004. Due to its multidisciplinary nature, one of its focuses was education. Therefore, alongside components in production (engineering), communication, and health, education was also included. Within this program, a diploma course in Rural Education was offered to preschool, primary, and secondary school teachers, according to their area of specialization. This diploma course included a self-study component that was monitored weekly by faculty mentors hired by the Faculty of Educational Sciences. The diploma course concluded in July 2006, although the university continues to carry out activities in the district.
