The mega-port of Chancay will be the foundation of a high-impact international trade cluster, integrating South America with Asia, a continent that encompasses 601,000 of the world's population. The resulting export, import, and logistics cluster will generate a range of demands for related services—customs, transportation, warehousing, financial, legal, and other services—which could synergistically foster development similar to that of Hong Kong and Singapore, maritime trade gateways to Asia.
