  • Traditional thesis

Modality for obtaining an academic degree or professional title that requires in-depth research and an original and unpublished analysis, around a specific academic area. It involves public support before the academic community in general and the approval of a jury that evaluates it. Since this modality serves to obtain the professional title, second professional specialty, academic degree of master and doctor; Its rigor and demand will vary depending on the professional title or academic degree that you want to obtain.

  • Thesis per article

If a scientific article has been submitted, it is included as the Results chapter in the structure of a traditional thesis. The scientific article is inserted in the original format as presented and published at a prestigious conference or in an indexed journal. The length of the scientific article depends on the specific conference or indexed journal. It includes footnotes, tables, figures, and a bibliography.

Professional Sufficiency Work (TSP)

Modality of obtaining the professional title through a report on the professional performance of a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering, in their area of work, as long as it is related to the studies carried out. Its purpose is to inform about the background, motivation and justification of the work.

Due to the greater proximity to the professional reality in the field of Engineering, it is expected that this work will be mainly a descriptive and evaluative exposition of an aspect of the author's professional development.

The TSP must detail the activities carried out in the work field (projects, works, research work, advanced courses, consultancies, advice, expert reports, etc.), in which it has participated individually or in a group, all of which must be duly supported with the respective records.

The TSP must contain a detailed and evaluative description of the job that best represents the candidate's career path, where the candidate's functions and characteristics are clearly identified.

 

Requirements and documentation

Thesis or research work advisor

He is the professor responsible for advising and directing the student in the study of the chosen thesis topic and in the development of work to obtain the degree of Master and/or Doctor. It may be more than one as deemed appropriate.

 

Examining jury 

It is a plural body, composed of at least three people, responsible for evaluating students in the respective program for the awarding of an academic degree. The chair of the examining committee will be the most senior professor with a doctorate among the three members. The most junior professor with a doctorate will serve as secretary. If no professors with doctorates are available, the position will be filled by a professor with a master's degree.

In all support procedures, the president gives the floor in order of seniority in the doctorate: from least to greatest seniority. In the absence of doctors, the same criterion applies to master professors.

In all cases, seniority in the degree of doctor or, where appropriate, teacher, gives way to the status of authority (rector, dean or similar).

 

 

Diploma

It is the document with which the academic degree and/or professional title is accredited, it is authorized by the Superior Council of the University. It must be issued in accordance with the provisions of the University Law and current regulations, and be signed by the corresponding authorities.

 

Metadata

Standardized information that defines and describes each digital document and work leading to a degree and title, facilitating its search and access. This corresponds to the description of the aforementioned work in terms of its author/creator, title, keywords or subject headings, among others; and physical attributes, such as media or formats and dimensions.
