In this 2026 edition, students from the University of Piura, as well as bachelor's degree holders and graduates from any university who do not yet have a professional degree, will be able to present a research paper (communication) linked to the thematic axis “Law Meets Business: Law versus Business”.
The best papers will be selected for publication in the Convention's proceedings. This is a valuable opportunity to begin legal research and share your contributions with the academic community.
- Stake
The following may submit communications:
- Students from the University of PiuraUp to five (5) works will be selected.
- External graduates (UDEP or other universities) those who do not yet have a professional degree: a maximum of two (2) jobs will be selected.
Each submission must adhere to the established format and have a minimum length of ten (10) and a maximum length of twelve (12) pages, including the bibliography. Formal specifications are detailed in the attached format.
The first panel will consist of the seven (7) selected works. Each presentation will have a minimum duration of ten (10) and a maximum of fifteen (15) minutes.
- Delivery time
The Convention proceedings will be available on September 19th. Therefore, the deadline for submitting texts will be [date missing]. Monday, May 18th until 9:00 PM, to the email: convencionderecho@udep.edu.pe
- Evaluation criteria
The works will be evaluated based on two fundamental dimensions:
First dimension: suitability to the thematic axis
The following will be valued: direct relationship with business activity, relevance and variety of approach, conceptual and methodological rigor, originality of approach and potential academic or practical impact.
Second dimension: quality of the article
The following will be examined: the strength of the argument, internal coherence, clarity of the title and summary, the relevant and sufficient use of normative, doctrinal and jurisprudential sources, as well as the consistency of the conclusions.
The assessment rubric for the papers is detailed in the attached format.
- Reference thematic axes
Given that business activity is an area of convergence between various branches of law, the following guidelines are proposed as a guideline:
a) Administrative Law
Administrative control of business activity; administrative sanctioning procedure; regulatory intervention in strategic sectors; and the role of INDECOPI in protecting the competitive order and the consumer.
b) Civil law, civil procedure and arbitration
Business contracts and remedies for breach; guarantees; precautionary measures in corporate disputes; commercial and investment arbitration; family businesses and liability.
c) Constitutional law
Freedom of enterprise and free private initiative; constitutional limits to state regulation; ownership in business contexts; equality between companies; state-owned enterprises and the economic Constitution.
d) Labor law
Limits of managerial power; outsourcing; work on digital platforms; occupational safety and health; collective bargaining; teleworking; equality and non-discrimination in business management.
e) Commercial law
Corporate governance and fiduciary duties; corporate reorganization; securities; distribution, agency and franchise agreements; unfair competition; securities market; insolvency and restructuring.
f) Criminal law
Corporate criminal compliance; criminal liability of legal entities; economic crimes; money laundering; corporate environmental crimes; cybercrime related to business activity.
g) Tax law
Business taxation; tax planning and avoidance; ability to pay; deductible expenses; SUNAT audits; transfer pricing; MYPE regimes; relevant case law.
h) Foundations of Law
From the Philosophy of Law, the justification of economic freedom and corporate responsibility; from Roman Law, the pactum societatis; and from the History of Law, the evolution of the concept of company and of state control of economic activity.
