“Law meets business: Law versus business”

The Faculty of Law of the University of Piura invites the national legal community to participate in the XI Public Law Convention and VI Private Law Convention 2026, a consolidated academic space that, year after year, brings together students, graduates, teachers and legal professionals interested in debating the great legal challenges of our time.

In this edition, the Convention proposes placing business activity at the center of legal reflection. Businesses are today one of the most dynamic and complex arenas of contemporary reality: they encompass contracts, organizations, labor relations, regulatory decisions, tax burdens, administrative controls, and criminal liabilities, as well as constitutional principles and fundamental categories of law. Analyzing businesses from this perspective allows us to understand how the law actually operates where economic and social life unfolds most intensely.

The Convention is conceived as a space for cross-cutting dialogue between public and private law, open to all legal areas. From civil and commercial law to constitutional, administrative, labor, tax, and criminal law, including the theoretical foundations of law, business activity offers common ground for critical analysis, research, and academic exchange. This integrative perspective seeks to foster a more comprehensive understanding of the role of law in addressing the current challenges of the business world.

The 11th Public Law Convention and 6th Private Law Convention 2026 aims to promote high-quality legal research and academic debate, offering participants the opportunity to reflect on, discuss, and propose legal solutions to real-world problems related to business activity. It is specifically designed for those who wish to delve deeper into legal research and contribute to the development of law from an interdisciplinary perspective.

This call for submissions is open to: (i) students of the University of Piura, and (ii) graduates or those with a bachelor's degree from law schools across the country, both public and private, who do not yet hold a professional title. In both cases, participation will be through the submission of a research paper related to the Convention's theme. The best papers will be selected for publication in the Convention's official book, providing an excellent opportunity to begin legal research and disseminate one's contributions within the national academic community.
