The Peruvian agricultural export sector is experiencing a period of intense competition. International markets are evolving rapidly: trade opportunities open and close according to price and demand dynamics that are not always easy to predict. At the same time, pressure on profitability is increasing, margins are shrinking, and investment and export decisions are becoming more complex. Those managing these businesses need more than just experience: they need tools and a strategic approach that will allow them to identify market opportunities.
Responding to these challenges requires understanding how prices are formed in international markets, what factors explain the success of agricultural exports, and how to identify growth opportunities before others do. It also requires knowing how to evaluate investment projects with sound financial judgment, applying business intelligence, and using data analytics technology to make more informed decisions. This is the knowledge that makes the difference.
To contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the country's agricultural export businesses, the University of Piura offers the Business Course in Agricultural Export Competitiveness and Business Intelligence. Through this program, participants will develop analytical skills to interpret international markets, business intelligence tools to identify opportunities, financial criteria to evaluate investments with a focus on risk, and a strategic vision to make decisions that boost the value of their operations within the agri-food chain.
It is aimed at agricultural exporters responsible for making strategic business decisions. It is also for financial professionals involved in agriculture, as well as representatives of companies operating along the agricultural export chain: logistics, supplies, packaging, etc. This is a forum designed for those who make strategic decisions in the sector that feeds the world.
-
Understanding the structural and strategic factors that explain the success of agricultural exports, based on the analysis of the Peruvian case and the competitive conditions that determine the performance of global markets.
- Develop the ability to analyze and interpret market, production, demand, and logistics information with the support of AI tools, to support strategic decisions with greater accuracy and less uncertainty.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in our own processes and business models, applying criteria of efficiency, traceability and competitiveness based on the use of technology and data intelligence.
-
Evaluate agro-industrial investment projects considering market variables, risk and profitability, with the support of business intelligence tools that allow for informed decisions with a higher probability of success.
The program takes a practical, application-oriented approach. Because it is designed for working executives, each session is tailored to directly address the real-world challenges participants face in their organizations. Learning is built from practice to theory, not the other way around.
Each module is based on specific situations drawn from the Peruvian and international agricultural export sector: commodity price analysis, climate risk management, destination market segmentation, among others.
The live format encourages the exchange of experiences between participants from different backgrounds and sectors, enriching learning with diverse perspectives and generating valuable professional connections.
The program is delivered in a live, synchronous online format. Sessions are held in real time, with active participation from both the instructor and students in each class. This format allows participants to access the program from any location without sacrificing direct interaction or group dynamics.
Classes are scheduled regularly over six weeks, with a workload designed to fit the schedule of a working professional. Sessions are recorded for participants to access, although the program's core value lies in the live experience.
