This module introduces the fundamental concepts of corporate sustainability and its evolution from corporate social responsibility to current ESG management approaches. It will analyze the relationship between sustainability and value creation for organizations, as well as the role of businesses in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda.
In addition, the main international initiatives that promote corporate sustainability will be reviewed, such as the United Nations Global Compact and the Global Reporting Initiative, along with an approach to the regulatory framework and business practices in the Peruvian context.
This module will address the international regulatory context driving sustainability transparency and the growing importance of non-financial reporting in business management. It will analyze key regulatory trends, including European corporate sustainability regulations, as well as the concept of dual materiality, which distinguishes between impact materiality (sustainability) and financial materiality in ESG reporting.
This module will explore the structure and application of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, one of the most widely used frameworks globally for sustainability reporting. It will review the report structure, the main disclosure requirements, and the key indicators related to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects.
This module delves into the concept of financial materiality as applied to corporate sustainability. It will review the sector-specific standards of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the new standards issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) of the IFRS Foundation. In particular, it will analyze the structure and content of IFRS S1 (General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information) and IFRS S2 (Climate-related Disclosures), and their relevance to integrating sustainability into corporate financial reporting.
