In the theoretical sessions, they will be reminded of the basic concepts of chromosome genetics and will delve deeper into more specialized concepts such as chromosome classification, chromosome nomenclature using the ISCN 2020 instructions, differences between a karyogram and karyotype, understanding the numerical and structural alterations that occur in chromosomes, and finally the clinical application of conventional cytogenetics at the prenatal, constitutional and oncological levels, and molecular cytogenetics.

In the practical sessions, participants will be taught to identify each chromosome by its GTG banding pattern, solve karyograms using simulators, solve real cases in an altered metaphase capture using the SmartType program whose result will be related to the respective clinic, and finally participate in a round table where the speakers will solve clinical cases.
