International relations

An economist specializing in International Relations understands how the global economy works and how the decisions of governments and international organizations impact markets. This training allows them to analyze the international political and economic context, understand global trends, and make informed decisions for companies, governments, or multilateral organizations. It is a highly valued profile in an increasingly interconnected and globalized world.

Business Economics

Microeconomics, or business economics, analyzes how consumers and firms make decisions and how they interact in markets. It studies topics such as prices, competition, production, and strategic behavior, helping us understand how resources are allocated in real life.
Why is microeconomics important for an economist specializing in international relations?
Because international trade is not limited to simple products: it includes companies competing with differentiated goods, economies of scale, and market power. Microeconomics helps us understand these dynamics, as well as the negotiation processes between countries. Tools such as game theory allow us to analyze trade agreements and strategic decisions that shape global politics.

Macroeconomy

Macroeconomics analyzes the overall functioning of a country's or the world's economy. It studies phenomena such as economic growth, inflation, unemployment, exchange rates, and public policies aimed at improving societal well-being. It is the foundation for understanding how the economic environment in which businesses, governments, and individuals operate functions.
Why is macroeconomics key for an economist specializing in international relations?
Because relations between countries are heavily influenced by their economic situation. Decisions such as currency devaluation, tariff changes, or taking on external debt not only have internal impacts but also alter the political and trade balance with other countries. To understand these dynamics and anticipate their consequences, a solid foundation in international macroeconomics is key.

Data analysis

Data analytics allows you to transform large volumes of information into useful insights for understanding the behavior of individuals, businesses, and governments. It uses tools such as Excel, Python, Power BI, and artificial intelligence to uncover patterns, establish relationships, and make informed decisions.
Why is data analysis key for an economist specializing in international relations?
Because understanding the degree of connection between countries requires measuring and analyzing real data: trade, investment, consumption, public policies, among others. In a world where digital information abounds, the economist who masters data analysis can identify causal relationships, anticipate trends, and better understand how relations between nations evolve.
