Course: Introduction to Research Methodology in Health

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals and techniques of health research. Participants will explore the basic principles of research methodology, including key topics such as fundamental research principles, threats to validity, study design from a practical perspective, and research ethics. Participants will also develop critical skills for evaluating scientific evidence and designing rigorous health research studies.

 

 Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the training process, the graduate is expected to acquire the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of the scientific method in the analysis of health research in the field of medicine.
  • Knowledge and understanding of threats to the validity of scientific research, potential biases, and strategies for their control.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the most relevant types of studies in clinical practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the concepts of ethics in research.

 

Teaching methodology
  • The classes are conducted in a virtual lecture format, through synchronous sessions via the Zoom platform.
  • Details for accessing the session will be included in the confirmation email sent to each participant at the email address they provided.
  • The topics, depending on their nature, may contain an expository part and another part involving interaction with some digital tool or platform, as the case may be.
  • Each session will be recorded and will form part of the digital repository of the Faculty of Human Medicine.

 

Modality

The course will be offered in a distance learning format.

 

Certification

Course certification will be given to any participant who, in addition to attending more than 70% of the teaching activities, passes the course with a final average grade of at least 11 points (vigesimal system)

Health professionals with research experience, interested in deepening their methodological skills, strengthening the design of scientific studies and optimizing the rigor in the production of scientific evidence in health.
