The current context in which the training of professionals in health sciences is developed calls for training with quality standards, which develops, through an integrative approach, all the competencies necessary for the good performance of teachers that university education needs. in our time.
Training in health sciences is marked by the technicalization of the university professional and the lack of a comprehensive vision of the teacher as a person who needs to develop humanistic and scientific competencies - academic and research - both for his work as a teacher and for his performance. diary.
Fundamentals of Bioethics and Research is a theoretical-practical course, which belongs to the Department of Basic Sciences and Bioethics of the Faculty of Medicine, which offers the possibility of learning the necessary foundations for teaching work in bioethics and research, and thus strengthen the teaching of the humanistic profile throughout the entire curriculum, betting on a comprehensive, humanizing and quality education.
Goals
The general objectives of the Fundamentals of Bioethics and Research for Teaching Course are:
- Facilitate knowledge of bioethics from its foundations to its practical applications in the health sciences environment.
- That the participants come to understand what human life means, value its dignity and promote its respect and development, in its different phases and circumstances.
- Provide the necessary resources so that participants acquire criteria based on scientific and ethical knowledge that leads them to make the best prudential decisions.
- Provide the theoretical bases and the minimum practical knowledge to address the study of the bioethical dilemmas that arise in our society.
- Help and encourage the acquisition of attitudes that favor good biomedical practice.
- Know the rationality and process of scientific research: methods and limitations.
- That teachers incorporate the necessary research tools into the teaching-learning process to foster the student's critical spirit.
- Acquire the skills to carry out efficient research mentoring.
- Prepare to carry out an operational research project in one of the areas addressed.
- Translate the results of research in Medical Education into proposals for improvements in the training of future doctors.
Modality
The course will be given blended in 10 sessions. The in-person part will consist of (expected time: 3 hours): theoretical sessions, analysis of readings and discussion of videos. The remote part (4 hours after the theoretical sessions) will consist of: sending readings and/or videos and partial exams on the planned platform.
To obtain the 03 credits valid for recertification, participants must attend 75% of the face-to-face classes (absences must be justified with the corresponding documentation to the Academic Secretariat of the Faculty), pass the exams that will be taken after the study of the material sent and the approval of the final exam.
The final grade will have the following characteristics:
- Final exam: 50%,
- Average of midterm exams: 50%.
