About the program

In a context marked by the rise of organized crime, the sophistication of cybercrime, and the increasing complexity of economic criminal law, legal professionals require a solid education that combines rigorous dogmatic basis and practical analysis of real cases.

The Specialization Program in Foundations of Criminal Law It offers a comprehensive academic immersion in contemporary criminal institutions. Throughout the program, participants will strengthen the criteria necessary to interpret and apply criminal law in the face of current challenges to the legal system: cybercrime, corruption of public officials, organized crime, and criminal liability in the economic environment.

This program has been designed to provide a modern, in-depth and applied vision of Criminal Law, allowing professionals to make accurate, well-founded decisions aligned with the main dogmatic and jurisprudential trends.

 

Aim
  • Identify, analyze and solve complex problems related to organized crime, cybercrime, corruption of officials and Economic Criminal Law.
  • To understand and apply current trends in criminal law doctrine, both in the general and special parts.
  • Develop solid criteria for legal-criminal interpretation and argumentation in real cases.

This course is aimed at anyone with a particular intellectual curiosity that leads them to seek new solutions beyond positive law. These solutions should address the evolving landscape of contemporary society, particularly in the areas of economic criminal law, cybercrime, and criminal procedure. Therefore, any legal professional interested in delving deeper into the foundations of specific criminal law institutions is welcome to participate.

  • Lawyers from the public and private sectors interested in strengthening their dogmatic and practical understanding of criminal law institutions.
  • Judges, prosecutors and judicial staff who need to update their knowledge in the face of new challenges in Criminal Law, Economic Criminal Law, cybercrime and criminal procedure.
  • Public officials and authorities at any level of government involved in the application and interpretation of criminal law. Public defenders, comptroller's office employees, public prosecutor.
  • Teachers and researchers in Criminal Law, interested in the rigorous study of the principles and foundations that support this discipline.
  • University graduates in Law interested in specializing in this subject.

 

Methodology

The program will be conducted through lectures and case studies.

Through a methodology of face-to-face classes, the program will be carried out through the presentation of a class by outstanding specialized professionals (Peruvian and Argentine university professors, litigating lawyers and judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic) who, through specific cases or problems or sentences from the highest instances of justice, which are worked on in groups, propose to address, after analyzing different perspectives, a proposed solution.

This postgraduate course will be taught in person, with in-person classes at the Miraflores campus of UDEP (162 Mártir José Olaya Street).

 

Certification

A digital certificate will be issued in the name of the University of Piura.

The certificate will indicate the grade and will state the 90 academic hours. This includes 48 hours of 16 class sessions, plus 4 hours of exam preparation and 38 hours of studying materials.

A certificate of completion will be awarded provided the participant has attended at least 80% class sessions and receives a passing grade on the assessment. Otherwise, a certificate of participation will be awarded.
