The course curriculum consists of 67 credits academics, who have been distributed as follows:

- 10 credits for the required courses in the fundamental areas of Law. These will be taught by PhD professors and offered during the regular academic semesters at the two campuses of the Law School.

- 6 credits for elective courses. These allow doctoral candidates to take them either at the University of Piura or at another university with authorization from the Doctoral Committee.
- 15 credits for the personalized reading plan, which is suggested by the thesis advisor and approved by the Doctoral Committee. This plan will be evaluated through a group work or discussion system.
- 16 credits, equivalent to 4 credits for each of the four research projects supervised by the supervising professor, which must culminate in the submission of a publishable article. Credits for two of these projects will be awarded upon publication or receipt of a commitment to publish by a research journal previously approved by the Doctoral Committee.
- 12 credits, which are equivalent to 3 credits for each of the four case law commentaries, two of which - to be effective - must be published or receive a commitment to publication by a research journal previously approved by the Doctoral Commission.
- 8 credits, which are equivalent to 1 credit for each of the four planned reviews, of which two, to be effective, must be published or receive a commitment to publication by a research journal previously approved by the Doctoral Commission.
