Professional Competency Project (TSP) - Graduates of the Faculty of Communication UDEP

Registration begins: January 2, 2025

Registration closes: November 30, 2025

 

1. REQUEST FOR ADVISOR AND WORK PLAN

The high school graduate must submit an advisor assignment request to the Academic Secretariat, and must attach the TSP plan which must contain:

a. Tentative title.

b. Initial outline of the work.

c. Presentation of the company, organization or project in which you have had experience describe.

d. Professional evidence such as work certificates or transcripts from the high school graduate.

e. List of references.

The plan should not exceed five (5) pages of content, excluding the cover page, professional evidence, and reference list.

The student must also attach the informed consent form from the institution or company authorizing the data to be used in the case study. This consent form is required even if the company remains anonymous throughout the project. The informed consent form must be signed by a legally authorized representative of the institution or company.

The Work Plan will be registered in the register of works for Graduation of the Faculty of Communication.

 

2. DAPPOINTMENT OF ADVISOR

The Program Director or, alternatively, the Academic Vice-Dean's Office, issues a response letter to the applicant, with a copy to the Academic Secretariat, indicating the assigned advisor. The advisor is a faculty member of the University of Piura (hereinafter, the University). External advisors are not permitted.

Changing advisors is possible for the following reasons:

a. Death of the advisor.

b. A duly substantiated request, submitted to the Academic Secretariat, by the high school graduate.

c. Properly substantiated resignation of the advisor.

d. Termination of the professor's contractual relationship with the University.

 

3. PFINAL PROJECT PRESENTATION

The deadline for developing the TSP is four months from the date the work advisor is assigned. No extension is granted for preparing the TSP.

Upon completion of the final project, the student submits a request for approval of the final project and the evaluation report issued by the advisor to the Academic Secretariat. This report must indicate that the final project is of sufficient quality to be published in the University Repository.

The TSP approval application must be accompanied by the following documents:

a. The digital version of the TSP (in Word and PDF format), respecting the style guidelines of the written works established by the University Library.

b. The information sheet for the final degree project in Spanish and English (in PDF and Word format).

c. The sworn statement of originality of the final work, in accordance with the Degree Regulations and Degrees from the University of Piura.

d. Authorization for Publication of the Final Work in the Pirhua Institutional Repository in access open, restricted access, access with an embargo period, or closed access.

e. The software similarity report. Responsibility for authenticity and The originality of the work rests with the student author. If plagiarism is detected, the Faculty will take action. The University's Regulations on Disciplinary Measures for Students will apply, and the actions mentioned by the University's Regulations on Degrees and Titles.

f. A copy of the payment receipt (or sales slip) for the corresponding academic fee paid in banking institutions.

Once the TSP deposit is accepted, the high school graduate must submit the following to the Academic Secretariat:

a. The application for the granting of the title.

b. The request for the preparation of a diploma.

c. The data sheet.

d. A color passport photograph with a white background in digital format.

The Academic Secretariat will not accept the TSP deposit if the above instructions are not followed. Deposits cannot be made in July and December.

 

4. EEVALUATION AND APPROVAL

The TSP does not require a public defense. Evaluation and approval are the responsibility of a panel of specialists comprised of: the advising professor, a professor from the area in which the TSP is framed, and the program director or a representative designated by the academic vice-dean, who act as reviewers.

The reviewers' evaluation may yield any of the following results:

a. Approved. This is obtained when the advisor and both (2) reviewers give the rating of Approved by the TSP. The result is indicated in the TSP minutes that grant the "approval".

b. Observed. This is obtained when the advisor or one of the other two (2) reviewers grant the rating of observed. The observations may concern substantive aspects of the work or related to formal issues of the same.

If the TSP (Thesis Project) is flagged for failing to meet the expected quality level, the program director or the academic vice-dean, through the Academic Secretariat, will inform the student and their advisor so that the student can address the issues and submit the work for a second evaluation. The student has a maximum of twenty (20) calendar days to address any recommendations and submit the TSP to the Academic Secretariat.

The revised version of the work will be submitted for review by the same panel of reviewers who evaluated it the first time, whenever possible. Otherwise, the Program Director or the Academic Vice Dean will appoint an alternate member.

 

5. OrGRANTING OF THE TITLE AND ISSUANCE OF THE DIPLOMA

After successfully passing the TSP, and with the documents already submitted during the work presentation procedure, the Academic Secretariat begins the process for awarding the degree and subsequent preparation of the diploma.

 

AFORMAL ASPECTS FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THE WORK

Research projects at the Faculty of Communication are conducted in accordance with the "Style Guidelines for Written Works for Degree or Professional Title (other faculties)" and the "Protocol for the Submission of the Final Degree or Title Project to the Library" of the Central Library of the University of Piura, or any subsequent regulations that may replace them.
