Interest in measuring the outcomes of therapies and procedures contributes significantly to improving the quality of health services; however, the lack of accessible instruments for patient assessment at the point of care could determine the alteration of the quality of interventions.
Ultrasound in medical units has evolved rapidly in recent years and has now become an extension of diagnostics rather than just a complementary test during evaluation. For this reason, the understanding of point-of-care ultrasound has led to a change in approach, standardizing ultrasound evaluation methods that support and/or replace traditional methods due to their speed, safety, and ease of interpretation.
Although in the field of medicine some authors disagree greatly regarding the ideal method for clinical evaluation of the patient in the emergency room, ultrasonography emerges as an alternative for early diagnosis in different populations regardless of their clinical situation, comorbidities or other factors.
Upon completion of the training process, the graduate is expected to acquire the following competencies:
Basic knowledge for optimizing the use of ultrasound in the emergency and perioperative period, through cardiac, pleuropulmonary, airway, vascular and nutritional assessment.
The course is aimed at doctors, residents and/or specialists with an affinity for ultrasound in emergency and/or critical care areas.
Participants who successfully complete the course will have developed professional skills to:
Basic knowledge for optimizing the use of ultrasound in the emergency and perioperative period, through cardiac, pleuropulmonary, airway, vascular and nutritional assessment.
