Comprehensive Course on the Management of Complex Wounds and Ostomies

 The course

The course provides specialized training in the comprehensive management of complex wounds and ostomies, developing clinical skills based on scientific evidence and international protocols. It integrates pathophysiological principles, advanced wound care techniques, patient education, and an interdisciplinary approach, with a focus on patient safety, complication prevention, and improved quality of care.

 Learning objectives

Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to:

  • Comprehensively assess complex wounds using the TIME model.
  • Select and apply evidence-based advanced healing techniques.
  • Identify and manage ostomy complications.
  • Integrate interdisciplinary strategies for amputation prevention.
Modality and Methodology

The course will be developed in a synchronous mixed format, combining real-time online sessions and face-to-face sessions in the classroom, favoring the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and the development of practical skills in the management of complex wounds and ostomies.

  1. Synchronous Online 

These activities are carried out in real time through virtual platforms, allowing direct interaction between teacher and participants to reinforce theoretical concepts:

  • Master classes and online seminars on the physiology of wound healing and wound classification.
  • Discussion of clinical cases in real time and interactive forums guided by the teacher.
  • Analysis of clinical videos, virtual role play and resolution of practical care planning exercises.
  1. Synchronous Face-to-Face 

These activities take place in real time, in the classroom or laboratory, focusing on practice and the development of technical and humanistic skills:

  • Practical workshops on advanced wound care, debridement and ostomy management.
  • Guided demonstration of wound care techniques, dressings, positioning and skin care.
  • Role play and discussion of real clinical cases, with immediate feedback from the teacher.
  • Group activities for interdisciplinary care planning and clinical decision-making
