Today, there is a demand for physicians trained in gynecological laparoscopic surgery, as it is a common tool in surgical practice due to its recognized advantages in patient recovery, blood loss, and the incidence of minor complications. The effective and efficient development of these procedures requires gynecologists to invest time and resources in additional skills training.
These skills must be acquired in simulated scenarios, as the paradigm shift in surgical medical training has necessitated the introduction of practice in safe environments for both the patient and the surgeon before entering the operating room. This has proven to improve the surgeon's performance in real-world practice and shorten the time required to acquire the technique.
The Postgraduate and Continuing Education Unit of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Piura offers the Course in Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery to those interested, a program that is aimed at medical professionals and/or residents who wish to acquire and consolidate skills.

General
Acquire and develop basic skills in laparoscopic surgery through the use of simulated models.
Specifics
- Use the camera correctly.
- Perform precise and rapid movement of objects with laparoscopic forceps, using both hands (ambidexterity), on a simulated model.
- Use the laparoscopic forceps, needle holders, and scissors correctly.
- Perform extracorporeal and intracorporeal suturing via laparoscopy correctly and within a specified time.
- Understanding the surgical technique and most relevant aspects of low-complexity laparoscopic surgeries (salpingectomy for ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cystectomy).
The course is aimed at Residents and/or Specialists with an affinity for gynecology, and broadly at all surgeons interested in gynecology and obstetrics, who seek to learn, acquire and develop the different 6 stations in the use of simulated models designed to develop skills in laparoscopic surgery.
Participants who successfully complete the course will have developed professional skills to:
