ELANET

The European Latin American Network in Support of Social Entrepreneurs (Elanet) project aims to convene, train and advise entrepreneurs in the Piura region with the international network that brings together 17 institutions from Europe and Latin America.

In the Elanet initiative, co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Commission, the University of Piura will play an important role in the region, as it will provide support and contribute to the decentralization of the Peruvian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Project: It Isn't Easy Being Green: Peruvian and US students tackle local environmental sustainability in a transnational context

 

Partner institution: Towson University.

Description: The program was developed in the months of July - August 2017. It was aimed at low-income students from both universities, as they are a population that often has obstacles to having an international experience. During the program, participants improved their language skills and studied environmental situations that affect both the campuses and their respective regions to ultimately design a project that leads to a concrete and operational solution to a particular problem.

Peru – US Innovation Fund Competition

Project: Immersion in Environmental Education

 

Partner university: University of Northern Iowa.

Description: training program aimed at future teachers in environmental education. The target audience was students of the UDEP Teacher Vocation Scholarship program, who completed a period of study in the US. The program began with ten students who received a certification from the GLOBE program, a global science educational program for primary and secondary schools. secondary school, promoted by international scientific institutions such as NASA and NOAA, which contributes to developing scientific learning and increasing awareness about the impacts of climate change.


 

Project: Let's Design and Evaluate Environmental and Education Policy in the Field: Insights from Behavioral Economics, Field Experiments and Randomized Control Trials

 

Partner university: Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Description: Virginia Tech and UDEP combined their strengths to develop an innovative program that provided students with key behavioral economics and experimental economics knowledge related to environmental field design and evaluation, resource management, technology adoption, and educational policy in rural communities. The diversity of interconnected topics in this program provided students with a multidimensional understanding of the issues facing rural communities.
