This course will explore key milestones in the history of Latin American cinema through an in-depth analysis of six emblematic films. It will address three main themes that will allow participants to understand the evolution and relevance of cinema in the construction of national identities, as well as its response to global phenomena.

From Luis Buñuel's "Los Olvidados" to Alejandro González Iñárritu's "Amores Perros," this course will cover a five-decade span. It will include an analysis of the elements of cinematic language and discussions of relevant historical and critical texts. It is designed for students and professionals interested in the history and characteristics of Latin American cinema, including communicators, humanists, critics, cultural promoters, actors, directors, and journalists.
