About the program

This program seeks to present the current foundations and criteria of the Criminal Legal System, taking into account new forms of crime.

The specialization program aims to deepen participants' knowledge of criminal law. Therefore, it offers not only studies on the General Part of Criminal Law, but also on topics such as Criminal Law and the Constitution, the legal consequences of crime, Criminal Procedure, and Economic Criminal Law.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • They will learn about the current criteria for attributing criminal responsibility.
  • They will learn and apply the review of the principles of criminal law and their conformity with the Constitution.
  • They will understand the structure of the determination of the penalty and other legal consequences of the crime.
  • They will update and learn about the fundamentals and crimes of economic criminal law.

  • Lawyers in the public and private sectors interested in strengthening their dogmatic and practical understanding of criminal law institutions.
  • Judges, prosecutors, and judicial staff who need to update their knowledge in the face of new challenges in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Economic Criminal Law, Criminal Law and the Constitution and the Legal Consequences of Crime.
  • Officials and authorities of the Public Administration at any level of government Those involved in the application and interpretation of criminal law: public defenders, comptroller's office employees, and the public prosecutor.
  • Teachers and researchers in criminal law interested in the rigorous study of the principles and foundations that support this discipline.
  • University graduates in Law interested in specializing in this subject.
Teaching methodology

Through a methodology of face-to-face classes, the program will be carried out through the presentation of a class by outstanding specialized professionals (Peruvian, Spanish, Uruguayan university professors, litigating lawyers and judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic) who, through specific cases or problems or sentences from the highest instances of justice, which are worked on in groups, propose to address, after analyzing different perspectives, a proposed solution.

*Recorded sessions will not be given to participants, except in cases of absence duly justified by unforeseen circumstances or force majeure.

Modality

The program will be conducted in person, two days a week at the Miraflores-Lima campus, which will promote networking among the attendees.

We also offer an online option for participants located outside of Lima.

Please note that classes will be broadcast via Zoom from the classroom on the university campus, so you can actively participate with the other attendees.

Students will have 24/7 access to the Udep Virtual platform, where they can find the reading material that the teachers will send.

The platform will only be available until the end of the program.

Certification

The program consists of 150 academic hours.

The digital certificate in the name of UDEP will indicate: Certificate awarded to the student “Names and Surnames” for having passed with a grade XX the Specialization Program in Criminal Law, carried out in person from August 11 to December 17, 2026, equivalent to xx academic hours.

The certificate of completion is awarded provided the participant passes the program, has no outstanding debt with the university, and meets the 80% attendance requirement.

If you do not pass the program and have no debt with the university, you will be awarded a certificate for having participated.

Certificates will be sent to participants' email addresses at the end of February 2027.
