He Visiting Medical Student Program (VISMED) Johns Hopkins University offers opportunities for medical students from other institutions to complete academic rotations at Johns Hopkins Hospital and its affiliated institutions. These rotations allow visiting students to gain experience in various medical specialties and learn from renowned professors and specialists at one of the world's most prestigious medical institutions.

The program offers rotations in a wide variety of medical specialties aimed at undergraduate medical students who have good academic performance and are enrolled at their respective home universities.

Students of the Professional School of Human Medicine who meet the following requirements:

• Students in their final year of studies.
• Average grade equal to or greater than 13.
• Advanced English language skills, spoken and written.
• Submit the documentation required by JHU, once you have been nominated by UDEP.

• International training experience in specialized clinical settings, which enriches professional training and broadens the academic and cultural perspective of the participating student.
• Professional and international projectionThe experience allows students to strengthen their academic and professional profile, expanding their intercultural skills, their network of contacts in the international medical field, and their opportunities for future postgraduate programs abroad.
• Official certificate of participation, awarded by the Faculty of Human Medicine of the University of Piura upon completion of the training stay, which supports the academic and clinical experience acquired.

• In person

• The rotation lasts for 4 weeks: from January 4 to 29, 2027 or from February 1 to 26, 2027.

  The schedule for carrying out activities will be established by the JHU. This may include morning or afternoon shifts, from Monday to Friday.

• 3 seats.

• Those designated by the destination institution, once the student has been admitted.

• Application feeUS$ 500 (non-refundable). Only students previously selected by UDEP may apply.
• Clinical rotation fee: US$ 5000.00 for a period of 4 weeks, in specialty assigned.

All payments are made directly to JHU according to their established processes.

In addition, accepted students will be required to cover the costs of transportation, food, and accommodation in the destination city, as well as the purchasing health insurance with international coverage. For this process, the selected students will follow all the steps of the JHU application process.

*For this call for applications only, the Faculty of Medicine will award one (1) half scholarship (50%) of the clinical rotation fee to the student selected first in the UDEP evaluation process for the rotation at Johns Hopkins University (JHU). This measure is exceptional and does not constitute a permanent benefit for future calls for applications.

The application, selection, and acceptance process will take place on the following dates:

• Application and documentation submission: until the October 23, 2026.
• File evaluation and interviews: until the November 6, 2026.
• Notification of students nominated to JHU: November 6, 2026.
• Initiation of procedures with the JHU for the allocation of places in clinical areas: from the November 6, 2026.
• Acceptance of the place by the selected students: from the completion of the procedures with the JHU.

The receipt of files will be carried out in a virtual until the October 23, 2026, through the online application enabled by the Interinstitutional Relations and Internationalization Unit (UREINI).

The application must include the following mandatory documents:

• Application Form with the applicant student's data
• Cover letter, addressed to the Director of the Professional School of Human Medicine, indicating the student's personal data and a brief explanation of the reasons that led him to apply to the Student Mobility Program.
• Curriculum vitae, undocumented (maximum 2 pages).
• Academic record or certificate that proves the required cumulative index.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring the truthfulness and authenticity of the data and documents submitted.

Applications submitted after the deadline or that do not meet all the required criteria will not be accepted.

The selection process consists of two phases:

• First phase (UDEP):

The Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Human Medicine reviews the submitted documentation, assesses the candidates, and conducts personal interviews to understand their motivation, academic background, and expectations regarding the exchange program. Based on this evaluation, the list of students nominated to apply to JHU is published.

• Second phase (JHU):

1. All applications must be submitted through the JHU portal (Slate portal): Application Management

2. Applications must be completed no more than [number] days in advance. 6 months nor less than 6 weeks regarding the desired start date.
3. Once the application has been submitted, the review process and decision by the academic departments may take between 30 and 60 days.

The accepted student must submit the ACCEPTANCE FORMAT.which must be duly completed and signed within the established timeframe.

In addition, you must immediately begin your application through the JHU Slate Portal. There, you will be asked for supporting documents, among other information.

Documents required for application on the JHU platform:

• Letter of Good Standing: Letter issued by the home medical faculty or school certifying that the student is in good academic and disciplinary standing.
• Immunization Form: It must be completed using the standardized form of the AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges).
• Curriculum Vitae (CV).
• Certificate of Grades (Transcript): Students may upload an unofficial copy of their academic transcript during the application process. However, the official transcript must be sent directly by the home university via an official submission or verification system accepted by Johns Hopkins (e.g., Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse) to the email address provided. • Letter of recommendation: Optional, but highly recommended.
• International health insurance.
• Professional liability insurance. *

* To participate in clinical rotations, you must be covered by a policy that meets the minimum professional liability coverage requirements mandated by Johns Hopkins.

The minimum required coverage is:

US$ 1 million per incident, and

US$ 3 million as an annual aggregate limit (i.e., the maximum amount that the insurer will pay in total during a policy year).

Students who leave the Student Mobility Program without justification, after being evaluated and accepted, will be excluded without the possibility of participating in future calls, and may be subject to a penalty, depending on the call.

Offenses during the application process or during the validity of student mobility will be sanctioned in accordance with the Regulations of Disciplinary Measures for students of the University of Piura.
