Hospital clinical rotations are an essential part of the training of Health Sciences students, such as Human Medicine, as they allow the application of knowledge acquired at university in a real environment.
The Autonomous University of Bucaramanga* is a private institution dedicated to providing higher education with high-quality accreditation. The UNAB Medicine Program trains medical professionals who contribute to transforming the quality of life of individuals and communities by integrating knowledge, humanism, and innovation.
This mobility represents a unique opportunity for live an international academic experience, exchange knowledge, develop intercultural skills and strengthen the professional profile, contributing to a comprehensive and competitive education in the field of health sciences.
- To recognize and understand innovative clinical practices and medical techniques through direct observation of procedures in a highly complex hospital environment, in order to expand and consolidate the knowledge acquired during university training.
- Analyze the functioning, organization and access to services in an international health system, developing a comprehensive vision of medical care from a comparative and global perspective.
- Develop communication and interpersonal skills by interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams in a diverse sociocultural environment, strengthening empathy, respect, and the ability to work in multicultural contexts.
Students from the Professional School of Human Medicine at the University of Piura who meet the following requirements:
- Have a valid enrollment in the 2026 I academic period.
- Be enrolled in at least the fourth year of the degree program.
- Cumulative average greater than or equal to 13.
- Exposure to highly complex medicine.
- Learning with renowned specialists. The internship allows interaction with specialist physicians with extensive clinical and academic experience, strengthening comprehensive medical training.
- Knowledge of other hospital organization systems. Students will be able to learn about the workings of the Colombian health system and compare models of care, clinical management, and medical protocols.
- Strengthening the academic and professional profile.
- International experience contributes to the development of the academic curriculum, providing a global perspective and greater competitiveness for future specialization programs.
- Development of clinical skills and interdisciplinary work. The rotation will strengthen clinical reasoning, case discussion, and collaborative work with multidisciplinary health teams.

Completing a medical internship at the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga (UNAB) offers students the opportunity to expand their clinical training in an academic environment recognized for its focus on innovation, research, and evidence-based practice. During the internship, students can join multidisciplinary healthcare teams, learn about the workings of the Colombian healthcare system, and strengthen their clinical, diagnostic, and patient communication skills. Furthermore, the international experience fosters academic and cultural exchange, enriching the student's professional perspective and contributing to their development as a physician with a more global vision of healthcare.
- The rotation will take place from July 13 to August 8, 2026.
- The schedule for carrying out activities will be established by UNAB, according to the assigned medical area. This may include morning or afternoon shifts, from Monday to Friday, with the possibility of complementary academic sessions and supervised practical activities.

The first phase of this application process will be handled by UDEP. The second phase will be handled by UNAB itself, which will determine if the student meets all the requirements to be eligible for one of the available positions.
- Those designated by UNAB.
- The clinical rotation does not have an academic cost from UNAB or the University of Piura.
- The student will be responsible for any additional expenses related to administrative or personal procedures that may be required at the host institution.
- The accepted student will cover the costs of transportation and accommodation in the destination city, as well as the costs associated with obtaining medical insurance with international coverage.

The application, selection, and acceptance process will take place on the following dates:
- Applications and documentation will be accepted until May 8, 2026.
- Evaluation of files and interviews from May 11 to 22, 2026.
- Publication and communication of students nominated by UDEP to UNAB May 22, 2026.
- The second phase of the selection of nominated students by UNAB will begin on May 22, 2026.
The receipt of files will be carried out in a virtual until the May 8, 2026, at 11:00 PM, through the online application process enabled by the Interinstitutional Relations and Internationalization Unit (UREINI).

The application must include the following mandatory documents:
- Application form for the student mobility program, with the applicant student's data.
- Cover letter, addressed to the Director of the Professional School of the Faculty of Human Medicine, indicating the student's personal data and a brief explanation of the reasons that led him to apply to the Student Mobility Program.
- Curriculum vitae of the applicant, undocumented (maximum 2 pages).
- Academic record or certificate that proves the required cumulative index.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring the truthfulness and authenticity of the data and documents submitted.
Applications submitted after the deadline or that do not meet all the required criteria will not be accepted.
The selection process consists of two phases:
- First phase (UDEP): The Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Human Medicine reviews the submitted documentation, assesses the candidates, and conducts personal interviews to understand their motivation, academic background, and expectations regarding the exchange program. Following this evaluation, the list of selected candidates is published.
- Second phase (UNAB): Nominated students must complete the requirements set by UNAB.
The accepted student must submit the Vacancy Acceptance Commitment.pdf, which must be duly completed and signed within the established timeframe.
You must also attach the following documents:
- Simple copy of the valid and current National Identity Document.
- Simple copy of international health insurance that covers health throughout their stay.
- Simple copy of complete vaccination card.
Students who leave the Student Mobility Program without justification, after being evaluated and accepted, will be excluded without the possibility of participating in future calls, and may be subject to a penalty, depending on the call.
Offenses during the application process or during the validity of student mobility will be sanctioned in accordance with the Regulations of Disciplinary Measures for students of the University of Piura.
