International Rotation – Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná - Brazil

Hospital clinical rotations are an essential part of the training of health sciences students, such as those studying human medicine, as they allow them to apply the knowledge acquired at university in a real-world setting. Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná ( PUCPRIt is a private, non-profit Catholic university. The main campus is located in Curitiba, the capital city of the State of Paraná, Brazil. The university has four more campuses in Londrina, Maringá, São José dos Pinhais and Toledo.

The School of Medicine and Life Sciences at PUCPR offers a comprehensive and transdisciplinary education, enabling an integrated understanding of health-related topics. Students become professionals attentive to the challenges posed by population growth and the intensive use of natural resources.

• Recognize and understand innovative clinical practices and medical techniques through direct observation of procedures in a highly complex hospital environment, in order to expand and consolidate the knowledge acquired during university training.
• To analyze the functioning, organization, and access to services in an international health system, developing a comprehensive vision of healthcare from a comparative and global perspective.
• Develop communication and interpersonal skills by interacting with patients, healthcare professionals and multidisciplinary teams in a diverse sociocultural environment, strengthening empathy, respect and the ability to work in multicultural contexts.

Students of the Professional School of Human Medicine who meet the following requirements:

• Have a valid enrollment in the 2026-II academic period.
• Be in at least the 4th year of your degree program.
• With a weighted average greater than or equal to 13.

• International training experience in specialized clinical settings, which enriches professional training and broadens the academic and cultural perspective of the participating student.
• Professional and international projectionThe experience allows students to strengthen their academic and professional profile, expanding their intercultural skills, their network of contacts in the international medical field, and their opportunities for future postgraduate programs abroad.
• Official certificate of participation, Awarded by the Faculty of Human Medicine of the University of Piura upon completion of the training stay, which recognizes the academic and clinical experience acquired. To enrich academic and clinical-surgical training through immersion in a highly complex hospital environment, specializing in the comprehensive management of the patient.

• In person

The experience will allow the student to learn about other approaches to teaching and medical practice, interact with teachers and students from different areas of health, and broaden their vision of current challenges in medicine.
Furthermore, the internship fosters the development of academic and professional skills, strengthens the student's autonomy and adaptability, and constitutes a valuable internationalization experience that contributes to their personal and professional growth.

• The rotation will take place from February 1st to 26th, 2027.
• The schedule for carrying out activities will be established by PUCPR, according to the assigned medical area. This may include morning or afternoon shifts, from Monday to Friday, with the possibility of complementary academic sessions and supervised practical activities.

• 1. General surgery
• 1 internal medicine

The first phase of this application process will be handled by UDEP. The second phase will be handled by PUCPR itself, which will determine if the student meets all the requirements to be eligible for one of the available positions.

The application, selection, and acceptance process will take place on the following dates:

• Reception of applications and documentation: until September 11, 2026.
• File evaluation and interviews: until September 18, 2026.
• Publication of the list of students nominated by the WFHSeptember 21, 2026.
• Notification of nominees: September 21, 2026.
• Start of procedures with PUCPR: from September 23, 2026.
• Acceptance of the place by the selected candidates: until October 30, 2026.

The receipt of files will be carried out in a virtual until the September 11, 2026, through the online application enabled by the Interinstitutional Relations and Internationalization Unit (UREINI).

Application Form for the Student Mobility Program, Call for Applications 2026 – II

The application must include the following mandatory documents:

• APPLICATION FORM, with the applicant student's data

• Cover letter, addressed to the Director of the Professional School of Human Medicine, indicating the student's personal data and a brief explanation of the reasons that led him to apply to the Student Mobility Program and indicating specialty(ies) with intention to rotate.

• Curriculum vitae, undocumented (maximum 2 pages).

• Academic record or certificate that proves the required cumulative index.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring the truthfulness and authenticity of the data and documents submitted.

Applications submitted after the deadline or that do not meet all the required criteria will not be accepted.

The selection process consists of two phases:

• First phase (UDEP):

The Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Human Medicine reviews the submitted documentation, assesses the candidates, and conducts personal interviews to understand their motivation, academic background, and expectations regarding the exchange program. Based on this evaluation, the list of students nominated to apply to PUCPR is published.

• Second phase:

Nominated students will need to complete their clinical rotation request according to the PUCPR process.

Final acceptance is subject to the final evaluation carried out by PUCPR.

The accepted student must submit the Commitment to accept vacancy,which must be duly completed and signed within the established timeframe.

Nominated students must attach the following documents:

• Valid passport.
• Record number of vaccines.
• Academic record.
• Letter of intent.
• Other documents that the host university may request.

On behalf of the University of Piura (UDEP):

Students who leave the Student Mobility Program without justification, after being evaluated and accepted, will be excluded without the possibility of participating in future calls, and may be subject to a penalty, depending on the call.

Offenses during the application process or during the validity of student mobility will be sanctioned in accordance with the Regulations of Disciplinary Measures for students of the University of Piura.
