The rotation in Internal Medicine – Delgado Clinic It offers students a high-level educational experience, focused on the comprehensive care of the adult patient and the clinical approach to the most prevalent and complex pathologies.
During this internship, students delve deeper into diagnostic reasoning, therapeutic decision-making, and the interdisciplinary management of hospitalized and outpatient patients.
The academic-care environment of the Delgado Clinic allows future doctors to strengthen their clinical, ethical and communication skills in a real, modern and highly specialized setting.
This experience is an essential pillar in medical training, as it provides a holistic view of the health-disease process, fosters critical thinking, and prepares the student to confidently face the challenges of professional practice.
Students will complete a training journey through three key areas:
- Outpatient clinics (2 weeks)
- Hospitalization – Internal Medicine Ward (2 weeks)
- Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) (2 weeks)
- Consolidate fundamental clinical skills through the correct preparation of the medical history, the performance of a complete physical examination and the appropriate interpretation of diagnostic findings.
- Develop critical thinking and clinical reasoning, systematically applying the principles of evidence-based medicine for decision making.
- Participate in hospital and outpatient care, integrating into the service's care activities under teaching supervision.
- Strengthening doctor-patient communication and interdisciplinary teamwork, as pillars of an ethical, empathetic and person-centered professional practice.
- Integrate theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, recognizing the importance of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up components in the comprehensive approach to the adult patient.
Students of the Professional School of Human Medicine who meet the following requirements:
- To have successfully completed the Medical Clinic I courses or to be currently enrolled in Medical Clinic II.
- Have a cumulative index equal to or greater than 14.
- Have a valid enrollment in the 2025-II academic period.
- Access to a highly complex clinical environment, with modern infrastructure and advanced technology.
- Join one of the most renowned Internal Medicine services in the country, strengthening professional training in a hospital setting of excellence.
- Develop clinical and care skills through direct participation in the care of hospitalized and outpatient patients.
- Complement theoretical knowledge with supervised practice, consolidating diagnostic and therapeutic reasoning.
- Strengthen teamwork skills and effective communication, interacting with professionals from various specialties.
- Receive a certificate of participation, awarded by the Faculty of Human Medicine of the University of Piura, which accredits the training experience.

The rotation will take place in the Internal Medicine Service of the Delgado Clinic.
The Delgado Clinic It is recognized as one of the most prestigious private institutions in Peru and Latin America. It stands out for its modern infrastructure, state-of-the-art technology, and highly specialized medical staff, which guarantees an ideal environment for clinical learning, the development of healthcare skills, and professional training of excellence.
- The clinical rotation will take place from January 12 to February 20, 2026.
- The schedule for carrying out activities will be from Monday to Friday (except holidays), from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Currently, he serves as coordinator of the Internal Medicine Service at Clínica Delgado, an institution where he leads high-level healthcare and academic teams.
He is a Member and Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), an associate member of the Peruvian Society of Internal Medicine, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Hipólito Unanue Foundation. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Human Medicine at the University of Piura, actively contributing to the strengthening of medical education in the country. In the academic field, he is head of the Chair of Approach to Clinical Diagnosis and a teacher of the Medical Clinic II course at the School of Human Medicine of the UDEP, where he stands out for his extensive clinical experience, teaching vocation and commitment to the comprehensive training of future doctors. |

The application, selection, and acceptance process will take place on the following dates:

- Evaluation of files and interviews: From November 24 to 28, 2025.
- Publication of accepted students: November 28, 2025.
- Personal interview with the site tutor: to be confirmed.
- Submission of commitment to accept vacancy: until December 1st.

The application must include the following mandatory documents:
- Application form for the student mobility program, with the applicant student's data.
- Cover letter, addressed to the Director of the Professional School of Human Medicine, indicating the student's personal data and a brief explanation of the reasons that led him to apply to the Student Mobility Program.
- Curriculum vitae of the applicant, undocumented (maximum 2 pages).
- Academic record or certificate that proves the required cumulative index.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring the truthfulness and authenticity of the data and documents submitted.
Applications submitted after the deadline or that do not meet all the required criteria will not be accepted.
The selection process is the responsibility of the Evaluation Committee, and consists of three phases:
- First phase:
Evaluation of the submitted documentation and the qualification of the candidates.
- Second phase:
Interviews with applicants.
The evaluation considers the student's motivation, academic trajectory, plans during the mobility period, and adaptability to optimize their experience in the program.

- Simple copy of Valid and current National Identity Document.
- Simple copy of valid health insurance.
- Simple copy of Complete vaccination record, According to the Vaccination Protocol Guidelines of the Faculty of Human Medicine, it must necessarily include complete vaccinations against hepatitis, diphtheria, tetanus, influenza, and COVID-19, according to current regulations.
- Proof of payment.
Students who leave the Student Mobility Program without justification, after being evaluated and accepted, will be excluded without the possibility of participating in future calls, and may be subject to a penalty, depending on the call.
Offenses during the application process or during the validity of student mobility will be sanctioned in accordance with the Regulations of Disciplinary Measures for students of the University of Piura.
