 The rotation

A rotation in the Endocrinology service: PEARLS IN ENDOCRINOLOGY promotes the strengthening of skills in critical analysis, clinical reasoning, interdisciplinary teamwork, and effective communication with the patient and their family.This rotation is aimed at students interested in strengthening their clinical training and acquiring solid tools for addressing prevalent diseases in our setting. They will lecture on patients in outpatient services and evaluate hospitalized patients through interconsultations, present topics, discuss research articles, and participate in other activities.

 

 Goals
  • Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of patients with prevalent diseases in our environment: diabetes, thyroid disorders, obesity and metabolic syndrome.
  • Integrate knowledge of physiology and pathophysiology into real clinical scenarios.
  • Develop skills in interpreting hormonal exams and metabolic tests.
  • Understanding the multidisciplinary approach to the management of endocrine pathologies.
  • Enhance skills in medical communication and patient education.

 

Addressed to

Students of the Professional School of Human Medicine who meet the following requirements:

  • Having successfully completed the course of Medical Clinic I.
  • Have a cumulative index equal to or greater than 13.

The rotation will take place in the Endocrinology Service (outpatient clinic and inpatient ward) of Santa Rosa Hospital, a decentralized body of Health Directorate V of the Ministry of Health, which provides comprehensive healthcare services to the population within its assigned jurisdiction, in accordance with the policies and strategies of the Health Sector. It is located in the Pueblo Libre district of Lima.

In 2025, it received 70,482 patients in outpatient clinics, reaching 7218 hospitalizations.
It is presented as a suitable clinical site to academically benefit medical students.

 

Duration and schedule
  • The clinical rotation in Endocrinology will take place from July 20 to August 8, 2026.
  • The schedule for carrying out activities will be from Monday to Friday (except holidays), from 8:00 am to 12 pm.

Medical doctor specializing in Endocrinology. Master of Medicine. President of the Diabetes Patients Association at Santa Rosa General Hospital. Attending Endocrinologist at Santa Rosa Hospital.

Investment: S/ 1100.00

The internship will not begin unless a minimum of two students are enrolled.

Schedule

The application, selection, and acceptance process will take place on the following dates:

  • Document and application submission deadline: May 8, 2026.
  • File evaluation and interviews: From May 11 to 22, 2026.
  • Publication of accepted students: May 25, 2026.
  • Submission of commitment to accept the vacancy: until June 5, 2026

 

Postulation

The receipt of files will be carried out in a virtual until May 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM, through the online application enabled by the Interinstitutional Relations and Internationalization Unit (UREINI).

The internship will only begin if we have 2 students enrolled and accepted.

The application must include the following mandatory documents:

  • Application form for the student mobility program, with the applicant student's data.
  • Cover letter, addressed to the Director of the Professional School of Human Medicine, indicating the student's personal data and a brief explanation of the reasons that led him to apply to the Student Mobility Program.
  • Curriculum vitae of the applicant, undocumented (maximum 2 pages).
  • Academic record or certificate that proves the required cumulative index.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring the truthfulness and authenticity of the data and documents submitted.

Applications submitted after the deadline or that do not meet all the required criteria will not be accepted.

 

Selection

The selection process is the responsibility of the Evaluation Committee, and consists of two phases:

  • First phase:

Evaluation of the submitted documentation and the qualification of the candidates.

  • Second phase:

Interviews with applicants.

The interview considers the student's motivation, academic background, plans during the mobility period, and adaptability to maximize their experience in the program. The results of the application process will be communicated via the applicants' institutional email addresses.

The results of the call will be communicated through your institutional emails.

 

Acceptance

The accepted student must submit the Commitment to accept vacancywhich must be duly completed and signed within the established timeframe.

You must also submit the following documents:

  • Health certificate that certifies good physical and mental health.
  • Simple copy of Valid and current National Identity Document.
  • Simple copy of valid health insurance.
  • Simple copy of Complete vaccination record, According to the Vaccination Protocol Guidelines of the Faculty of Human Medicine, it must necessarily include complete vaccinations against hepatitis, diphtheria, tetanus, influenza, and COVID-19, according to current regulations.
  • Proof of payment.

 

Resignations and sanctions

Students who withdraw from the Student Mobility Program without justification, after being evaluated and accepted, will be excluded from future calls and may be subject to a sanction, depending on the specific call.

Infractions during the application process or during the mobility period will be sanctioned in accordance with the Regulations of Disciplinary Measures for students of the University of Piura.
