- Rotation at Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital
A rotation in the surgical emergency department constitutes an essential clinical setting for the comprehensive training of medical students, as it allows for the development of clinical, ethical, and communication skills in a dynamic, high-demand environment requiring immediate decision-making. This context fosters the strengthening of skills in critical analysis, clinical reasoning, interdisciplinary teamwork, and effective communication with the patient and their family.
The rotation also helps the student understand the organization of the health system and the functioning of triage, referral and counter-referral, as well as the importance of collaborative work.
