Doctors in Italy

En la Facultad de Medicina Humana de la Universidad de Piura (UDEP) creemos que la formación de un profesional de la salud debe trascender las aulas y las fronteras.

Por ello, ponemos a disposición de nuestros estudiantes esta oportunidad internacional, que les permitirá conocer de primera mano el sistema de salud italiano a través del Doctors in Italy Fellowship Program. Durante esta experiencia, podrán conocer cómo se brinda atención médica en diferentes contextos clínicos y culturales, comprender distintos enfoques de la práctica médica y fortalecer competencias interculturales fundamentales para su desarrollo profesional.

Los estudiantes seleccionados realizarán su experiencia en algunos de los hospitales y clínicas más prestigiosos de Italia, varios de ellos incluidos en el ranking World’s Best Hospitals 2024 of Newsweek.

A través de la observación directa del trabajo de médicos y otros profesionales de la salud, los estudiantes podrán comprender mejor las responsabilidades, los desafíos y la dinámica cotidiana de la práctica clínica.

Asimismo, la estancia favorecerá el establecimiento de vínculos con profesionales de reconocido prestigio, brindando oportunidades para el aprendizaje, la mentoría y la creación de una valiosa red de contactos internacionales que podrá contribuir a su desarrollo académico y profesional.

• Facilitating the learning of innovative medical practices and techniques, that allow students to expand their knowledge and strengthen their mastery of clinical procedures.
• To enhance clinical reasoning for diagnosis and treatment of pathologies in different health contexts, enriching the experience of students facing complex and challenging medical situations.
• To provide a comprehensive understanding of the organization of and access to care in health systems como el de Italia, promoviendo competencias que faciliten el desempeño en entornos internacionales.
• Encourage interaction with patients from diverse sociocultural backgrounds, strengthening the capacity for communication and effective relationships in a multicultural context.
• Promoting a global vision of health, reinforcing the humanistic training of students and their ability to provide empathetic and holistic care.

Estudiantes de la Escuela Profesional de Medicina Humana que cumplan con los siguientes requisitos:-

• Have a valid enrollment in the 2026-II academic period.
• Be in at least the 4th year of your degree program.
• With a weighted average greater than or equal to 13.

• International training experience in specialized clinical settings, which enriches professional training and broadens the academic and cultural perspective of the participating student.
• Professional and international projectionThe experience allows students to strengthen their academic and professional profile, expanding their intercultural skills, their network of contacts in the international medical field, and their opportunities for future postgraduate programs abroad.
• Official certificate of participation, awarded by the Faculty of Human Medicine of the University of Piura upon completion of the training stay, which supports the academic and clinical experience acquired.

• In person

• Experiencias disponibles en diversas ciudades de Italia, entre ellas Roma, Milán, Florencia, Bolonia, Nápoles, Bari y Padua, además de otros destinos.
• Rotaciones en cuatro o más especialidades médicas, permitiendo una visión integral de la práctica clínica.
• Oportunidad de realizar observación clínica en consultorios externos (atención ambulatoria) en todas las sedes participantes.

• Más de 20 horas semanales de observación clínica (clinical shadowing) junto a profesionales de la salud.
• La rotación tiene una duración de 2 a 4 semanas: Del 4 al 29 de enero del 2027 ó del 1 al 26 de febrero del 2027.

El horario para la ejecución de actividades será establecido por Doctors in Italy de acuerdo con la actividad del tutor, la mayoría son de lunes a viernes de 8 a 12 del día., según el área médica asignada. Este podrá incluir turnos mañana o tarde, de lunes a viernes.

• The specialist will be designated by the host institution once the student has been admitted. This specialist will be an expert in the medical field chosen by the student.

• Application fee: 350 dólares (no reembolsable). Solo podrán acceder a esta convocatoria a Italia, los alumnos previamente seleccionados por la UDEP. Este pago se debe hacer dentro de los 15 días de informados los nombres de los seleccionados a Doctors in Italy.
• Clinical rotation fee: Los costos varían dependiendo de la ciudad y de la duración de la rotación: Los precios varían entre 3,000 dólares hasta 8,000 dólares aproximadamente.
• Doctors in Italy ofrece una forma de pago en partes.

Todos los pagos se realizan directamente a Doctors in Italy según sus procesos establecidos.

Además, los alumnos aceptados deberán cubrir los gastos de transporte, alimentación y estadía en la ciudad de destino, así como la contratación de un seguro médico con cobertura internacional. Para este proceso, los alumnos seleccionados seguirán los procesos de Doctors in Italy.

The application, selection, and acceptance process will take place on the following dates:

• Reception of applications and documentation: until September 11, 2026.
• File evaluation and interviews: until September 18, 2026.
• Publication of the list of students nominated by the WFHSeptember 21, 2026.
• Notificación de los nominados a Doctors in ItalySeptember 21, 2026.
• Inicio de trámites con Doctors in Italy para la adjudicación de plazas en las áreas clínicas: from September 23, 2026.
• Acceptance of the place by the selected candidates: a partir del día que terminen sus trámites con Doctors in Italy.

The receipt of files will be carried out in a virtual until the September 11, 2026, through the online application enabled by the Interinstitutional Relations and Internationalization Unit (UREINI).

The application must include the following mandatory documents:

• FORMULARIO DE POSTULACION Application Form with the applicant student's data
• Cover letter, addressed to the Director of the Professional School of Human Medicine, indicating the student's personal data and a brief explanation of the reasons that led him to apply to the Student Mobility Program.
• Curriculum vitae, undocumented (maximum 2 pages).
• Academic record or certificate that proves the required cumulative index.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring the truthfulness and authenticity of the data and documents submitted.

Applications submitted after the deadline or that do not meet all the required criteria will not be accepted.

The selection process consists of two phases:

• First phase (UDEP):

The Evaluation Committee of the Faculty of Human Medicine reviews the submitted documentation, evaluates the candidates, and conducts personal interviews to understand their motivation, academic background, and expectations regarding the exchange program. Based on this evaluation, the list of students nominated to apply to US-C&I is published.

• Segunda fase (Italy):

Nominated students will need to complete their clinical rotation request según el proceso de Doctors in Italy.

La aceptación definitiva está sujeta a la evaluación final realizada por Doctors in Italy, que se reserva el derecho de admitir o no a los postulantes.

El estudiante aceptado deberá presentar   el COMPROMISO DE ACEPTACION, el cual debe estar debidamente completado y firmado dentro del plazo establecido.

Los esudiantes nominados deberán adjuntar los siguientes documentos:

• Valid passport.
• Récord de vacunas.
• Otros documentos que les pedirá Doctors in Italy.

These documents are essential for submitting the nominación oficial a Doctors in Italy and will be presented by the students nominated by UREINI, during the first phase of the process.

Posteriormente, una vez que Doctors in Italy confirme la aceptación, se solicitará la presentación de additional documents, entre los cuales figuran:

• Certificate of English at a conversational level (advanced).
• Background check
• Seguro internacional.
• Proof or complete vaccination card that includes COVID-19.

LA PRIMERA QUINCENA DE AGOSTO HABRÁ UNA CHARLA VIRTUAL A CARGO DEL EQUIPO DE DOCTORS IN ITALY PARA EXPLICAR A DETALLE EL PROGRAMA.

On behalf of the University of Piura (UDEP):

Students who leave the Student Mobility Program without justification, after being evaluated and accepted, will be excluded without the possibility of participating in future calls, and may be subject to a penalty, depending on the call.

Offenses during the application process or during the validity of student mobility will be sanctioned in accordance with the Regulations of Disciplinary Measures for students of the University of Piura.
