International Diploma in Pediatric Allergy

 The diploma

This diploma program is theoretical and practical in nature, and is designed for general practitioners, pediatricians, allergists, and residents in allergy and clinical immunology. Its objective is to train physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and comprehensive management of allergic diseases in childhood. The program covers topics ranging from the pathophysiology of the allergic immune response to clinical diagnostic methods and procedures specific to the specialty, including clinical management and desensitization techniques using allergen-specific immunotherapy and drug desensitization.

 Learning Objectives

The main objective of this International Diploma in Pediatric Allergy is to train non-specialist physicians with advanced skills for the diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive management of allergic diseases in the child population, based on scientific evidence and best clinical practices.

Secondary objectives:

  • To delve deeper into the pathophysiology and immunological mechanisms of pediatric allergic diseases.
  • To train in the indication and interpretation of diagnostic tests in pediatric allergy.
  • Strengthen skills for managing complex clinical cases, including asthma, rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, food and drug allergies.
  • Promote prevention and a multidisciplinary approach to allergic diseases in children.
Teaching methodology

The Teaching Methodology is based on the following:

  • Building concepts with students: argumentation of concepts in light of theory, exchange of opinions and face-to-face debates and/or in forums on the topic.
  • Practical space: acquisition of concepts with exercises and individual and/or group practical application on the topics developed in face-to-face and/or virtual environments in order to generate a space for students to participate in discussions, presentations, case studies, role-playing, among others and actively participate in face-to-face classes or through the Canvas platform.
