The Middle Ages is a crucial period in the history of the West, since at the end of this era the European society forged in those centuries began its expansion throughout the globe. In this way, many cultural, philosophical, social, religious or even economic aspects of our time are of medieval origin, regardless of whether we are in Europe, America or other latitudes.
On the other hand, the medieval period always arouses great interest, while it is quite unknown, and becomes a space full of topics and myths that are assumed to be true by large sectors of the population that are not necessarily illiterate, since since the Renaissance (who coined, in a pejorative way, the very term “Middle Ages” or “Gothic” -as barbaric art-) part of historiography has demonized the Middle Ages.
For this reason, a Diploma in Medieval Studies (Online) seems very pertinent to publicize an adjusted vision of the Middle Ages that connects with the concerns and interests of many people eager to know, with academic rigor, this historical era so popularized through literature or cinema.

- Strengthen the theoretical and methodological training of students and renew research perspectives in the field of Medieval Studies.

Graduate Profile
It is expected that at the end of the diploma the graduate will have acquired a duly founded general vision of the Middle Ages, complete and solid knowledge. Likewise, it is expected that you have exercised reading comprehension and reading original sources proposed throughout the course by the teachers. With this, the graduate will have sufficient knowledge and skills to expand in the future their knowledge of those aspects and topics of medieval history that may interest them most.
Work methodology
The Diploma in Universal History (Online Mode) will be developed through the UDEP Virtual Platform. The participant will have a username and password to access the program.
Each course is organized as follows:
- Week 1: Analysis of the proposed materials. Participants will watch the videos of each teacher and analyze the proposed materials.
- Week 2: Participation in chats/forums. During this stage it will be necessary to enter the platform and actively participate in the debates presented.
- Week 3 and 4: Preparation, delivery and evaluation of the work. Each teacher establishes the evaluation modality and the conditions for delivery and evaluation of their subject.
Duration: 1 year
Credits: 24 in total
Schedule
As it is a virtual program, the participant will be able to access the platform and corresponding material at any time they wish, once their username is activated. Taking into account that it is essential that you enter the system to be notified and notified in time in the diploma forum regarding the activities or tasks previously established by the teachers.
