In a context where societies face growing challenges regarding coexistence, cultural diversity, and the building of citizenship, education plays a key role as a space for holistic development. Today more than ever, teachers require tools that allow them to connect school learning with the social reality of their students, promoting critical thinking, a sense of belonging, and active participation. In this scenario, cultural heritage is positioned as a fundamental pedagogical resource for strengthening identity, collective memory, and social cohesion within the classroom.
The course “Heritage, Memory, and Identity: Keys to Transforming Society from the Classroom” offers an innovative training program that integrates educational, cultural, and civic approaches. Through an interdisciplinary lens, it provides teachers with conceptual and methodological tools to incorporate cultural heritage—tangible, intangible, and natural—as a central element of their teaching. The program not only promotes an understanding of heritage but also connects it to the development of competencies within the National Curriculum, especially those related to identity building and democratic participation.
