The Human Medicine Research Ethics Committee (CIEI) of the University of Piura is in charge of reviewing, evaluating, approving and supervising that research on human beings carried out at the University of Piura or presented by other institutions guarantees - in the context of research—the right to life, integrity and well-being of the people who participate in them as a subject of study, absolutely respecting the human person from the moment of conception, and promoting excellence in the quality of research .

Evaluation of amendments

 

Amendments are changes to the research previously approved by the Institutional Research Ethics Committee (CIEI) of the University of Piura.

List of requirements

The amendments are changes to the protocol or work plan previously approved by the Institutional Ethics and Research Committee (CIEI) of the University of Piura. These changes that you are going to make in the approved protocol must be in important or substantial sections of it, for example: changes to the objectives, question, title, methodology, hypotheses, main variables, etc. Minor changes to the protocol are not considered amendments, such as: change in wording, spelling corrections, increase in information, etc.

These amendment requests must be evaluated by the CIEI before being implemented. Is required:

  1. Protocol or work plan approved by the CIEI (this must contain the approval seal or hologram in the lower right corner) in pdf or word format.
  2. Fill out the amendment request form.

​It is RECOMMENDED not to alter the format amendment request form, fill out the requested fields, fill it out and send it in word.

01. What research should be submitted to the Institutional Research Ethics Committee (CIEI)?

All research carried out at the University of Piura must be sent for evaluation and registration at the CIEI; including teacher research, research to obtain the degree (thesis) and bachelor's degree.

02. Who should make the evaluation request?

All communications and requests must be made by the PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR (PI). Identify a researcher who will be the representative before the CIEI.

03. How do I request an evaluation?

Applications are submitted to the CIEI digitally. The CIEI has a submission platform. Follow the steps below to submit an application.

01. What requirements are needed to request an evaluation?

04 documents are needed: the request letter, the protocol or work plan, declaration of conflicts of interest (annex 03). These documents are found in the “institutional or external investigations” section.

02. Similarity percentage allowed

The Similarity Report is the one that contains the percentage of Plagiarism of the research project/work plan. This report does not have a standard format. The maximum accepted % similarity will be determined by the evaluation carried out by the CIEI.

01. How long does it take to obtain approval from the Institutional Research Ethics Committee (CIEI)?

The CIEI takes between 30 to 40 days to approve each project. It will depend on the PI correctly sending the requirements and resolving the observations in the shortest time possible.
