History
The magazine Peruvian Mercury, Founded by Víctor Andrés Belaunde in 1918, the journal was received by the University of Piura in 1991 as a legacy of its founder. Since 1997, it has been managed by the Faculty of Humanities, which publishes it as an academic yearbook, and since 2020 its director has been the linguist Eliana Gonzales Cruz.
Throughout its history, the journal has compiled over five thousand contributions across more than 30,000 pages and has published works on Peruvian history, thought, art, literature, and culture. It is also indexed in Dialnet and Latindex. Its publications include commemorative and monographic issues dedicated to prominent figures, events, and anniversaries in Peru's intellectual and cultural tradition.
The University of Piura cherishes this precious intellectual legacy, aware of its value in disseminating Christian humanist thought in Peru and the world.
The editorial focus is on promoting and disseminating research and humanistic thought from a Christian humanist perspective, with special attention to the study of the history, culture, identity, art, literature and social reality of Peru, contributing to reflection and knowledge of the Peruvian intellectual and cultural tradition.
Of national and international scope, aimed primarily at researchers, academics, teachers and university students, professionals in the humanities and social sciences, as well as academic institutions, research centers and people interested in the history, culture, art, literature and humanistic thought of Peru.
