University Cultural Heritage

It is often believed that cultural heritage is only found in museums or cultural centers, however, universities are valuable venues that house a wide variety of historical assets. During these fifty years of institutional life, the University of Piura has received a series of material goods that have become part of the University Cultural Heritage:

  •  Library of the archaeologist Federico Kauffman Doig (Lima campus)
  •  Library of the art historian Santiago Sebastián (Piura campus)
  •  Library and personal objects of the historian José Antonio del Busto (Piura campus)
  •  Casona Pardo (architectural building, Italian Villa, and historical memory of the Miraflores district)
  •  Harpsichords donated by Mrs. Ana Savarain.
  •  Collection of watercolors, drawings, engravings and scores by maestro Francisco González Gamarra (Lima campus)
  •  Chulucanas handicraft collection (Piura campus)
  •  Collection of pre-Columbian ceramics and metallurgical objects (Piura and Lima campus)
  •  César Pacheco Vélez special collection on historical topics (Piura campus)
  •  Special collection by José María Desantes Güanter on communication issues (Piura campus)
  •  Photographic collection of the newspaper El Tiempo de Piura (Piura campus)
  •  Documents from the Duncan Fox Commercial House (Piura campus)
  •  Recordings of classes, talks and conferences by the philosopher Leonardo Polo (Piura campus)
  •  Sheet music and musical arrangements of the UDEP University Choir (Piura campus)

This important material serves as a research source for students and teachers of the History and Cultural Management program, mainly, and will be gradually made known through exhibitions, publications, seminars, among others.
