Diploma in Citizen Leadership

Presentation

The University of Piura, concerned with the social interests that every citizen should have in a democratic society, presents the first edition of its Diploma in Civic Leadership. This initiative is offered to those seeking to raise awareness and understand the key dimensions for actively and comprehensively assuming leadership, commitment, and responsibility as citizens, with a view to sustainable development in their own local community.

The Diploma program, characterized by its interdisciplinary nature, is aimed at professionals from diverse fields of study—especially those with undergraduate or postgraduate degrees, school or university teachers—or anyone interested in learning more about their role as a social leader. It is offered entirely online through asynchronous classes and some synchronous sessions, allowing for significant flexibility in scheduling the coursework.

Participants will be able to exchange learning spaces with national and international professors, and obtain a complementary qualification that allows them to work in various work environments, such as education, law, public and private management, and the cultural sector.

Goals
  • To analyze in an interdisciplinary manner the different dimensions of citizen leadership.
  • To understand and recognize the need for active participation of men, in order to generate positive and civic attitudes in the community in which they live.
  • Applying the principles of citizen leadership to a concrete proposal.
  • Evaluate the specific proposal with a view to its application in a real context.

Methodology

The program combines theory and practice to offer a comprehensive learning experience. Through recorded lectures and some synchronous sessions, participants will explore key concepts at their own pace and apply what they've learned by analyzing case studies. Active and consistent participation is required from students.
