The scope of the object of study of Literature varies. In school and university education, its parameters are established according to language and political territory, resulting in national literatures as thematic axes into which knowledge is divided.
This Diploma complements this vision with a broader and more transversal perspective, which considers Literature as a transnational process and studies the most important common aspects in which different national literatures and their works participate.
Since it is a blended learning program (with in-person classes on Saturdays), the aim is to provide this study opportunity to people who have jobs during the week.
In short, the Diploma in World Literature aims to train highly qualified professionals with knowledge of literature, who can work in various areas of the field: university and school teaching, research, literary archives, museums, etc. The program seeks to develop research and theoretical and applied reflection in this field, and to contribute to improving the professional level, efficiency, and internationalization of the sector.
To this end, those interested will be provided with the necessary tools for the analysis of literary texts and to expand the scope of analysis of those already initiated in the task.
Upon completion of the diploma program, participants will be able to:
- Understanding specific works within their socio-historical context and within the tradition of their literary genre.
- Analyze works from diverse literatures and eras.
- Apply critical tools and terminology appropriately.
The methodology combines theory and practice, and will emphasize exercises in analytical and evaluative reading of literary works.
The program is delivered in a blended learning format: classes are virtual on Wednesdays and in-person on Saturdays.
Aimed at researchers, university and basic education teachers (schools), as well as the general public with a high school degree, interested in deepening, from an academic approach, the study of universal literature.
